sex, lies and videotape

i'm not quite sure how i came across this film. perhaps browsing through instant play on netflix mixed with serious ennui due to the fact that i'm broke as hell until i get my stipend check. so, after eating samosas for dinner i watched this.

lately, i've been really interested in films from the late 80s/ early 90s (some a bit more obscure than clueless---although i do love clueless). Anywho, the movie is from 1989. if you watch it, pay particularly close attention to certain details. for example, one of the main characters, graham, mentions the fact that he is impotent. well, this is pre-viagra----being that it was introduced to the mass market in the late 90s. it is the pre-cell phone era: not one person in the film has one or mentions one. i love how everyone uses land lines. the stealthy and scandalous calls made to and from different characters are quite impressive. ann and john are married, but ann doesn't like sex. she'd rather talk to her therapist about how she cannot help but think of where all the garbage will go when there is too much for the earth to hold. to make up for his wife's pitiful sex drive, john is having an illegitimate affair with ann's artsy pre-hipster sister, cynthia. you'll have to watch the movie to fully understand the twisted plot.

who gets to call it art?

amazing.

tv stars in my dreams.

last night i had a dream that i was living with 4 people not two. one of these additional two people was jerry seinfeild. he disorganized my entire apartment. he took the books off the book shelf, he moved everything in the kitchen. he brought with him a microwave and a tv. it drove me nuts in my dream. i woke up around 3 am thinking this was reality. that's been happening lately. i couldn't sleep so i left my bedroom, got a glass of water and tried to go back to sleep. why am i dreaming about jerry seinfield! i don't even watch his tv show!

Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences

This article from the New York Times is about ten years old. However, it is still relevant.

I'm researching this topic today for school. I find it interesting. So, I'm sharing it with you.

adventures @ brooklyn brewery.

on friday we went to brooklyn brewery. for twenty dollars you get 6 tokens. each beer is a token.

the cuvee de cardoz was my favorite. a belgian strong pale ale. 8.5 %.

some how cory and i ended up in tribeca, eating sushi @ 1 am. in between the brewery and sushi we saw the xylopholks on the subway.cory was loud. he told me he was never good at using his inside voice. luckily, i made it home in one piece. before i went to bed that night i realized i had a giant bruise on my ass----the night before i fell off lc (little chair).

Passion Pit/ Shy Child/ Cale Parks

So, last night I went to see Passion Pit at Bowery with some friends. It was great, but my favorite of the night was the opener, Cale Parks. It's a solo act, it's great.

mousebread. yum.

you wake up in the morning.
you grab the bread from the cupboard.
you take the jam out of the fridge.
you get ready to cut a slice, to put in the toaster.
and you find this.
a mouse does not belong in my bread.
perhaps, i'll eat it anyway.
maybe it will add some flavor.
i'm no longer a vegetarian. so, why not?

my humble abode.

recently, amna and i have moved to greenpoint in brooklyn. we have little money because neither of us have jobs yet. so, we spend most of our time hanging out on kingsland avenue.

these are our pets. dinosaur from india and bird from costa rica.we have yet to give them names. i think they are better off that way. we don't have to feed them and they don't bark. thank god.

this is my room.
